Examples of public, private property work requiring a Certificate of Appropriateness

The table below shows examples of modifications to a structure that require a Certificate of Appropriateness from the city of Burlington. "Major work" must be approved by the Historic Preservation Commission; whereas, "minor work" only needs to be approved by the planning department. Routine maintenance does not require a COA, but may still require a building permit.
