How much did Alabama public schools spend per student?

Search for a school or district to compare K-12 spending per student in 2023-24 and 2024-25. The table also shows each school's 2024-25 poverty level and how much its per-student spending increased or decreased after adjusting for inflation.

The 2023-24 figures are shown in both actual dollars and inflation-adjusted 2024-25 dollars. Blank cells indicate unavailable or noncomparable data, not zero spending.

About the data: Figures are based on school-level spending and enrollment records from the Alabama State Department of Education for fiscal years 2024 and 2025, corresponding to the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years. Preschool expenditures and enrollment were excluded to calculate K-12 spending per student. Inflation-adjusted figures use the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis price index for state and local government spending. Poverty percentages reflect 2024-25 school data. School-level spending includes expenses assigned directly to schools as well as districtwide costs distributed among schools. Schools with specialized programs or very small enrollments may have unusually high per-student expenditures that are not directly comparable to those of traditional schools.
