Trace Requests for crime guns recovered in Mexico
Law enforcement agencies across Mexico submit trace requests to the ATF for crime guns recovered in Mexico. In 2022 and 2023, the ATF traced 36% of the requests to a purchaser in the US. Two thirds of these crime guns were sold by gun dealers, 20% by chain stores, and nearly 13% by gun manufacturers.
