How is the Healthy Indiana Plan funded?

Federal funds cover 90 percent of HIP — which leaves the state responsible for 10 percent of the program. But, Indiana's state budget actually doesn’t cover that cost.

A pie chart splits up the sources of funding for Indiana's HIP program. 90 percent is covered by the U.S. government. Hospital Assessment Fees cover 9 percent and money generated by Indiana's cigarette tax cover the last 1 percent.
