High APRs on monthly car insurance payments persist

Which? research highlights premium finance costs and regulatory scrutiny

Based on a survey of 52 car insurance brands carried out in February 2025. Some providers apply a range of APRs depending on customer group/risk. In these cases - where an average or overall representative rate wasn’t provided - the rate used for the Which? analysis and table rankings were either that for new customers or the mid-point of the range.
