CT labor force hits new high in January

The number of people in the labor force hit nearly 1.96 million in January, up from about 1.93 million a year earlier, an increase of about 30,400 or 1.6%. Nonfarm employment was at 1,717,600 in January, just shy of the 1,720,900 jobs in March 2008, just before the Great Recession hit Connecticut's job situation hard.
