The University of Washington Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation projects Pennsylvania will see 27,511 deaths by July 1, 2021, from COVID-19. The death toll is projected to be as low as 26,837 with universal mask-wearing and as high as 32,914 if mitigation mandates ease and vaccines are less effective against virus variants.
