Most popular investment products among young people in Ontario

A 2017 survey found that among Ontarians aged 18-24 who held investments or savings, the most commonly held investment products were mutual funds and stocks, equities and shares.

This item was answered by 298 respondents; respondents could choose multiple options. The full survey was conducted with a representative sample of 1,585 Ontarians, aged 18 to 36, weighted down to a sample size of 1,500 using the latest Statistics Canada census data. According to the report, "a random probability-based sample of this size would have an estimated margin of error of ±2.5%, 19 times out of 20. The estimated margin of error would be larger within each sub-grouping of the sample."
