NOTE: The year-to-year totals are not based on actual data. Rather they are averages spread out over the length of the time period in which the democide was active. In other words, the genocide of the Christian population of the Ottoman Empire under the Young Turks claimed 2,781,000 victims between the years 1914-1923. That works out to 278,100 victims per year over a ten year period, which is how it is presented in the cumulative area chart format.
