Workers spend fewer hours on dock work after their ports are automated

Measured in hours of dock work per one hour of ship work

LBCT and TraPac terminals were automated. Ship work includes connecting or disconnecting containers on a ship and operation of ship-to-shore cranes, which transfer containers between the ship and the dock, among other tasks that are difficult to automate with the variability and the confined space of ships.
