The pandemic took a heavy toll on college enrollment in Washington. Community and technical colleges were hit hardest, but most four-year institutions also lost a significant number of students.
All Washington four-year colleges lost about 7 percent in enrollment between Fall 2019 and Fall 2021. Community colleges lost 24 percent. The 4 year college hit the largest was Evergreen State College with a 28 percent drop. University of Washington remained unchanged.
