The strength of the dollar slumped after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the agency would double its buybacks of bonds.

The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) measures the value of the U.S. dollar against six other major global currencies. The base value, 100, refers to the strength of the dollar in 1973. Values below 100 mean the dollar is weaker than then.
