2023 MBA Pay: West

Stanford GSB pulled it off. The school’s Class of 2023 earned the highest base salaries across every region in the United States. The number was $186,716 in the West, comfortably ahead of the Wharton School ($176,763), MIT Sloan ($171,343), and Northwestern Kellogg ($171,329). The biggest surprise out West? Harvard Business School! Despite placing 88 graduates out West, the HBS pay average came back at $168,686 – a $7,778 drop over the previous year. At the high end, a Stanford GSB grad negotiated a $500,000 starting base, with a dozen grads pulling in bases of $200,000 or more. That doesn’t count highs from Boston University’s Questrom School ($194,400) and the University of Rochester’s Simon School ($192,000). Aside from Stanford GSB, UC Berkeley Haas ranks as the highest-performing, home-grown West Coast MBA program. Haas graduates averaged $165,418 in base pay, which topped off at $240,000.
