Indiana abortions after its near-total ban took effect

Providers are required to report when an abortion takes place and if there were any complications to the Indiana Department of Health. There was a 98 percent decrease after the near-total ban took effect on Aug. 1, 2023. Providers and advocates said the need for care didn’t go away — care just became more difficult to access.
