Explosion in New Mexico mining claims

Companies have filed more than 12,000 claims since 2023 seeking to extract uranium and other resources in New Mexico, according a Source NM review of federal data. That figure is nearly three times the number of all mining claims staked in New Mexico throughout the entire 20th century.
