U.S.-Iran War pumps up Connecticut's fuel tax

During the first 19 days of the U.S. war with Iran, which began on Feb. 28, the average wholesale price of gasoline at New Haven harbor, the largest fuel-importing site in Connecticut, rose 83 cents per gallon. This caused the state’s wholesale fuel levy, set at 8.81%, to grow more than 7 cents per gallon. Stations typically pass all of that added cost onto consumers.
