In FY 2023, the most new hires were in the GS-7 and GS-5 pay grades, with over 26,000 and 23,000 employees respectively.

Entry level: GS-1-9, Mid Level: GS-10-12, Senior level: GS-13-15, N/A consists of employees on pay plans outside the GS-scale.
