Oklahoma immigration detentions boom in 2025 for migrants with no prior criminal convictions
A detainer is a request by ICE to a local jail to hold someone for 48 hours beyond when they otherwise would be released so that ICE can make an arrest in the jail while the individual remains detained. Local agencies are required to cooperate per state statute. Usually, immigration information is traded at the point of booking.
