Metro Migration Mapped: Net Moving Interest Per Capita

We found which metros movers love—and leave—based on net migration interest per capita.

Top 5: Raleigh (NC), Boise (ID), Charleston (SC), Greenville (SC), and Huntsville (AL)
Bottom 5: San Diego (CA), Oxnard (CA), San Francisco (CA), New Haven (CT), and San Jose (CA).

We mapped net mover search interest for 106 major U.S. metros, using net searches (moves in minus moves out) relative to population size to identify areas of attraction or outflow.
Formula: (Net searches ÷ metro population) × 100,000.
Example: For every 100,000 residents in Raleigh, there’s a net positive of 53 mover searches (moves in minus moves out) — higher per capita searches than in any other major metro.
