How does N.J.'s second wave compare to April?

Last spring, the number of people testing positive for coronavirus each day peaked at 3,735 on April 7, using seven-day rolling averages. Days later, the state reached highs for hospitalizations (8,084), intensive care admissions (2,051) and patients on ventilators (1,705). The chart below compares the disease's progression to those heights. For instance, on Nov. 18, new cases reached 3,744, just exceeding April's high, while hospitalizations were approaching a third of what they once were.
