Those who don't graduate are most likely to have an adverse loan status

Share of borrowers in each loan status (%)

Source: US Department of Education, February 2022 release of 2019-20 institutional data from the College Scorecard. NOTES: This graph reports estimates of the share of undergraduate federal student loan borrowers three years into repayment in each loan status by the borrower's last known enrollment status: completer or non-completer. Graduates finished their academic program and graduated, while non-graduates did not finish. This graph does not include Parent PLUS or private student loans. Discharged loans are forgiven by setting the borrower's remaining debt balance to zero without further payment necessary, while loans that are "paid in full" have had their full balance owed repaid by the borrower.
