Survey Respondents by mineral and gender

The project sampled miners of both gold (n=187) and various colored gemstones (n=200) with a near equal sampling of males and females. A variety of gemstones are known to occur in the KBK region including corundum/rubies (Manik), emeralds (Panna), garnets (Ceyloni Gomed and Gomed), cat’s eye/tiger’s eye (Lahsunia), aquamarine (Beruz), blue and yellow sapphires (Neelam/Pukhraaj), and small amounts of diamonds (Hira).
