Driving while intoxicated most common criminal charge among immigrants detained by ICE in Colorado

Of the approximately 1,300 immigrants with criminal convictions who were held in the Denver Contract Detention Facility or ICE hold rooms around the state in 2025, 250 had driving while intoxicated as their most serious charge, followed by assault or drug offenses.

Data reflects people arrested by ICE between Jan. 20 and Oct. 15. *The drug offense category is a combination of eight charge descriptions, including "dangerous drugs" (75), cocaine possession or intent to sell (35), drug trafficking (19), marijuana possession or intent to sell (19), "drug possession" (12), amphetamine possession or intent to sell (15), "heroin" (8) and "narcotic" (2).
