The state has given out $33.17 million to cities to support asylum seekers

About $20.3 million more in grant money is available to cities around the state. Of that, $11 million is earmarked for cities other than Chicago. Grants must go toward supporting asylum seekers with things like legal aid, food, health care or housing.
