Among California's 62 most-populous cities, average market-rate apartment rents rose in all but one from August 2017 and August 2018. Fresno and Clovis had lower average rent prices than all of the cities except Bakersfield.
Figures reflect market-rate rents for apartment complexes of 50 or more units in 62 large and medium-sized cities across California. The analysis does not cover apartment properties with fewer than 50 units or single-family rental homes, nor does it include affordable housing for low-income families.
