Top CD Rates Since December 2021—As of Sept. 18, 2024

In December 2021, the top nationally available CD rates for terms of 6 months to 5 years ranged from 0.80% to 1.30% APY. After 11 Fed rate hikes between March 2022 and July 2023, the top rates surged as high as 6.00%. Now, however, rates are expected to decline after a rate cut of 0.50 percentage points in September 2024.
