Pa. births in W.Va. of children exposed to drugs

Since data became available in 2017, the number of moms from Pennsylvania who gave birth in Morgantown, W.Va., has ballooned — and so, too, has the percentage of children exposed to drugs during pregnancy.

Substance Use refers to newborns exposed to drugs during pregnancy. Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) is caused when babies withdraw from drugs they were exposed to in the womb.
