The cardiovascular risk index consists of variables from the 2022 County Health Rankings dataset, and includes % adult obesity, % diabetes, food environment index, % smokers, % excessive drinking, and % physical inactivity. The food index is scored from 0 (worst, minimal health food) to 10 (best, access to healthy food). Data on active cardiologists were obtained from HealthLink Dimensions. HealthLink Dimensions is the authority in healthcare provider data. Population estimates were obtained from the 2020 Decennial Census Redistricting Data. More details are provided in the methodology section.
