An analysis by the District Attorney's Office finds that arrest rates for shootings are low, particularly for nonfatal shootings. Among fatal shootings, only 26% resulted in an arrest last year, down from 38% in 2019. Only 14% of nonfatal shootings in 2021 resulted in an arrest, compared with 22% in 2017. Shooting totals for 2021 are through Sept. 7, and arrest totals are through Dec. 6.
