Southern States Have Some of the Highest C-Section Rates

In the U.S., 31.8% of all live births in 2020 were cesarean sections, driven by high numbers in the Southeast, where birth outcomes are generally worse than in other parts of the country. Mississippi's rate is the highest, at 38.2%.
