How N.J. Generates Electricity

As of 2021, about half of the electricity generated in New Jersey comes from fossil fuels, either natural gas (48%) or coal (2%). The state's nuclear power plants generate almost all the rest. Solar power accounts for only 2% of electricity generation.

"Other" includes biomass, wind, and hydroelectric.
