Over Two-Thirds of U.S. Counties Lack Endocrinologists

We obtained population estimates from the 2024 CDC Places dataset. We sourced endocrinologist data from Healthlink Dimensions, while metrics on adult diabetes rates and age-adjusted diabetes-related death rates per 100,000 were sourced from the 2024 CDC Places and CDC Wonder datasets, respectively. We sourced data on the age-adjusted prevalence of diabetic retinopathy from the CDC Vision and Eye Health Surveillance System. See the methodology section for further details.
