CT had 2nd highest xylazine-related overdose death rate in 2022 out of states with available data

Researchers compiled xylazine-related death data across the country and found 2022 data for 18 states. They took the number of deaths that year and divided it by the population of the state, based on population estimates from the National Center for Health Statistics, and then multiplied it by 100,000.

The final values shown are death rates per 100,000 population, to allow for state-by-state comparison.
