The percentage of ICU beds in Pennsylvania used by COVID-19 patients has risen from 4% to 14% in August. The increase in November was worse, rising nearly 20 percentage points before peaking on Dec 15. This spring, the Alpha variant caused a 9-point increase over a five-week period.
