Pacific Decadal Oscillation, 1854-2025

The Pacific Decadal Oscillation is a pattern of natural climate variability, but new research suggests human-caused global warming has been influencing it since the 1950s. The PDO index is based on sea surface temperatures and pressures in the North Pacific and U.S. Pacific Coast.

Lines shows a pattern swing between drier and wetter, with drier conditions for most of the past two decades.
