Households with Negative Net Worth

States are ordered by their estimated share of households with zero or negative net worth in the current year. "Higher" or "Lower" means a state's share differs from the U.S. rate of 11.3% by more than sampling error (see confidence intervals). Some lack an estimate for one or both years because small samples made them too unreliable to report. Prior year values are also displayed.
