Vacation Risk Index: 25 U.S. Destinations Ranked by Safety Exposure

This scorecard ranks 25 popular U.S. vacation destinations based on overall public safety exposure. Each location was evaluated using county-level data on violent crime, property crime, crimes against society, traffic fatalities, pedestrian fatalities, alcohol-involved crash deaths, and FEMA National Risk Index scores. Crime and traffic totals were converted to rates per 100,000 residents and combined with hazard risk to create an Overall Risk Index Score. Higher scores indicate higher relative risk compared to other destinations in this dataset.
