Rutgers officials said the salary totals on the NCAA fiscal year report don’t reflect the actual salaries paid to employees because fringe benefits are factored into the totals. Rutgers pays the full expenses and then receives State Paid Fringe revenue back to cover full Fringe/FICA/Medicare on the highest salary lines with-in athletics. Rutgers' fringe rate -- 60.95% -- is dictated by New Jersey and is believed to be the highest of any Big Ten school.
