European parties' misspending

Misspending of EU funds in 2024 by European parties, as flagged by the European Parliament’s finance department (DG FINS).

It flagged a total of €1,105,987.

The sums in this graphic were calculated as the difference between two audit stages: First, the non-reimbursable expenditure identified in external audits at the start of the accounts-closing process — i.e. costs that parties cover themselves rather than with EU subsidies — and second, the higher figure established later by DG FINS, which also identifies additional expenses it deems ineligible in the final audit. The resulting total equals the amount indicated in DG FINS final report on 2024 closure of accounts.
