STATE NOTE. Results reflect the STAAR assessment administered in English to grades 3-8, accessed 6/16/26. Texas re-designed the state assessment in Spring 2023 (noted in figure); use caution when comparing to prior years. Trends are included here for reference only. "Proficiency" here includes students meeting or mastering grade level performance on the STAAR.
SUBGROUP NOTE. Student subgroups may be defined differently depending on the State Education Agency (SEA), and not all subgroups are available from all SEAs (some subgroups may not have available data across all years or select years). SWD= Students with disabilities; EL = English learners.
2020 NOTE. State Education Agencies (SEAs) did not administer assessments in Spring 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic (noted in figure).
