Omaha's Greenhouse Gas Emissions

In 2009, the Omaha community produced 7,736,659 metric tons of carbon dioxide — enough that if compacted together would be about 20 times heavier than the Empire State Building.

These gases, emitted during the burning of fossil fuels often to power cars or generate electricity, collect in the earth's atmosphere and contribute to global warming. This is the only emissions inventory the city has compiled.
