Most Dangerous States for Pedestrians in Summer, 2015-2024

This table shows the overall pedestrian danger rankings for each state, based on pedestrian-involved fatalities during the summer months of June through August from 2015 to 2024, measured per 100,000 people. New Mexico takes the top spot as the most dangerous state for pedestrians in the summer, with a fatality rate of 9.44.

Note: The data covers all fatal motor vehicle crashes that reportedly involved a pedestrian. These figures don't represent total pedestrian fatalities, only total number of fatal motor vehicle accidents involving a pedestrian.
