2024 MBA Pay: General Management

General management is the catch-all, do-all role of business school graduates. Here, Stanford GSB is the clear dominant player. In 2024, the 58 GSB grads made off with $183,647 on average, more than $20,000 more than runner-up MIT Sloan. Add to that, the highest-paid GSB general management grad earned $375,000 to start, easily besting a Chicago Booth MBA who negotiated a $300,000 deal. Harvard Business School, known as the management school, rounded out the Top 3 with graduates reporting $162,520 in base to start. As a whole, starting pay corresponded closely to rank in general management. Harvard Business School did post the highest individual paycheck at $275,000, though this could stem from Stanford GSB declining to report high and low salaries. That said, a Duke Fuqua grad collected a $250,000 paycheck to start, only ranking below counterparts at HBS and Wharton. Among the surprises, a BYU Marriott grad earned $175,000 to start, equal to counterparts at Dartmouth Tuck and Virginia Darden.
