Clinical trials in China tend to have higher enrollments

The average number of enrollments across clinical trial initiated in each year.

Chinese clinical trials did not begin appearing on the ClinicalTrials.gov database until 2005, so data points before that time have been removed. China launched its own clinical trial registry platform in 2007.
