The national COVID-19 weekly rolling average rate for 2020-2022 for all U.S. counties in this study is 31.8. County total population estimates and Hispanic/Latino population estimates are taken from the American Community Survey 2019 5-year estimates. A majority desert county is a county with over 50% of its population living at least 1-hour driving distance away from the nearest pulmonologist. Pulmonologist locations are based on an in-depth analysis of data licensed through Healthlink Dimensions. Legend scale is based on quartiles for Hispanic/Latino makeup based on all counties in U.S.
