Which Asia-Pacific Economies Are Most Exposed to Trump’s Tariff Hike?

Vietnam stands out as the most vulnerable, with exports to the US making up nearly a quarter of its GDP and potential losses reaching -6.9% of GDP. In contrast, Indonesia’s low export share to the US cushions it from major economic shocks, with an estimated impact of just -0.3%.

Note:
¹ The estimated impact of reciprocal tariffs is calculated using a short-term demand elasticity assumption of 0.8. Products currently exempted from the tariff plan — such as semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and energy goods — are not included in the impact calculation.
² On April 2, former President Donald Trump announced a 34% tariff on Chinese imports, to be imposed on top of the existing 20% tariff.
