In dry years, solar panels' shade boosted grassland growth

A study from 2021 to 2024 in Colorado found that grasslands shaded by solar panels had less growth than full-sun fields in years with average and above-average levels of precipitation. But in relatively dry years, the shade helped keep water from evaporating, and boosted grass growth 19% over the unshaded growing areas.
