Chart 2: Annual Disinvestment Targets vs Actual Receipts
From 2014-15 to 2026-27

Actual receipts frequently fell short of the original targets, with particularly large gaps in 2019–20, 2020–21 and 2021–22. The highest target was about ₹2.1 lakh crore in 2020–21, while receipts were only around ₹33,000 crore. Receipts peaked at about ₹1 lakh crore in 2017–18. From 2023–24 onwards, the target represents the broader Miscellaneous Capital Receipts category, including disinvestment and asset monetisation, while the actual figures shown are standalone equity disinvestment receipts.
