North Carolina's goal ratio for students to school nurses is 750 students to 1 school nurse. The National School Nurse Association recommends a nurse in every school, which few districts can say they have.
North Carolina's ratio of students to school nurses has improved from about 1,200 students per school nurse, to just more than 1,000 students per school nurse.
