Number of kids employed Americans had fell sharply in the 1980s

The average number of children among Americans who are employed and 30-55 years old fell from about 2.4 in 1980 to 1.9 in 1990. That number has continued to decline but at a much slower pace, ticking down to 1.8 in 2018. The number of children per employee has consistently been a little higher for women than men.
